Tarrafal

Travel to Tarrafal in Monte Trigo, a coastline stretching about 20 km with protected bays, secluded beaches, and rocky promontories. The volcanic landscape is just as spectacular underwater, with breathtaking marine formations.
Caves and reefs, rich in marine life, are home to a wide variety of fish. The mountains behind Tarrafal, rising up to 1,900 meters, shield the bay from the constant northeast winds, ensuring calm and peaceful seas.
This region is ideal for fishing, snorkeling, and swimming. Humpback whales breed and give birth here between January and April, while other whale species and dolphins can be seen year-round. In summer, sea turtles lay their eggs on the beaches, which hatch in autumn.
